Jack's birthday present. He turned two yesterday. After Sam we are cherishing every single moment with Jack. He is such a spoiled boy. But considering how things went for him in his first year and a half on this earth, he deserves it!

Weekend warrior time again. Well, maybe not warrior more like a novice civilian. I had to rip out the door stops of my office door because after painting that stupid hollow door it wouldn't shut. So off with the door stops and getting the door to shut and reinstalling them. Now I have more nail holes to fill and painting to do. Menards doesn't sell the doors I usually buy, which is a solid foam core door that is heavier and more sound proof. I had no choice but to buy the cheap hollow door. The only door they sell now that has a foam core is an expensive oak four panel door, which is not needed in the basement. I also hate hollow doors because, like the other hollow door I installed, I had to cut and install spacer pieces of wood inside the door around where the door knob is, otherwise the knob didn't work properly. There is just too much monkeying around with a hollow door, I don't even know why they make them to be honest. You can't install a knob without your own engineering, the solid edges are just basically thick cardboard, and if you paint it, it warps. Might as well be made of sponge. I can say without a doubt that that is my last hollow door, like, forever.

Jack continues to be a card, a ham, a sweet loving pal. He is so good that we consider ourselves very fortunate. The neighbors also rescued a dog from the pound and are having quite a time with her. They are trying to break the habit of barking all the time and everything they try doesn't work. Good thing she's a cutie. Ryan's dog Karly was returned to the pound three times before Ryan got her. She is quite a spitfire.

I think the rest of the day will be household duties after my office door. I have laundry and all your other typical chores. Then tonight maybe a little Stargate for humor and fun.
Have a great weekend all.

I feel guilty posting on facebook all the time instead of LJ. Work lately has been very hot, since all my work is basically outside. Cool water showers after is the remedy for heated flesh. Our budget in our department must be thin, because my boss is refusing to fix any of the vans lately. My van, van five, lost it's air conditioning, well I know where it is it just doesn't work. So I moved into van six. Less than two weeks later the fuel pump went out, boss won't fix that either. I had no choice but to move into a smaller van, about half the size, because it runs and has air conditioning.
But this weekend Jack O'Neil and I are going to enter the gate.

I think that I finally finished my office and our walk-in closet! I moved my office downstairs because the old office was too small. All my collectibles and such were overwhelming the room. Now I have twice as much space and it is really nice. I actually can walk around in there. The old office then, became our new walk-in closet. We chose an expandable/adjustable closet organizer system from Rubbermaid. It is great to have a walk-in closet. Plus, since it was a very small bedroom, it has heat and a small closet of it's own. So, even our walk-in closet has a closet, which we are using for seasonal storage. Moving all our clothes to the new closet opened up the laundry room quite a bit, because that is where we were keeping all our clothes, except for the clothes we have in our dressers in the bedroom. I was hoping that we could put the dressers in the new closet, but there just isn't enough room, however the hamper was put in there and we got rid of the hooks to hold clothes that we were going to wear again. Even in just doing that, it opened up the bedroom more than I thought.
Mary and I may even put up a fence for Jack so he can run all he wants!! That boy is soooooo cute. I've been very busy with this switching of rooms. I now don't feel that great and haven't for about six days. It is rather a strange feeling this "head cold". It doesn't behave like the others I've experienced. This one comes with the usual "head cold" attributes but also includes a persistent cough and a bit of dizziness, and something else I can't quite explain. It's just different.
Mary is enjoying not being in school. She very much enjoyed doing the walk-in closet. She starts back in August so we should take advantage of the summer as much as we can.
I'll post later, for now Goodnight dear family.

Funeral

Today was my uncle Dave's funeral. It was beautiful and there were lots of people there, that was great to see. I saw relatives that I haven't seen in years, that was great too. It was quite a sad day, of course, but like my dad said, we know where he is and we morn, but not like those who have no hope. I was a Pall Bearer along with five other nephews of Dave's.
It was my solemn honor to do that for the family. It was wonderful to see my sister Becky, with her husband Scott and daughter Christina. We really wanted the folks to come over, but the house was in slight disarray and the walks hadn't been snow blown, because my snow blower is trapped inside my shed due to ice. And Jack was just neutered yesterday and he can't have too much excitement right now. I don't see how we can stop him from all the activities he does for two whole weeks, but I think he'll fair nicely. The stitches and incision look really good. He seems to not be in any discomfort at all, so we may not even give him the pain pills. After we said our goodbyes and got home we talked about Dave and Mickey (his wife) and that we really want to start to go to church again. It has been too many years of a weekend being just a weekend. Mary and I bought new dress clothes, mainly for Mark and Janine's upcoming wedding in May, in case there is a function (like the rehearsal and dinner) that we will need to dress up. I had no suit at all. And I'm glad I got one when I did because it came in handy for the funeral. I would have been the only Pall Bearer with no suit. That would have been embarrassing. Mary got a beautiful pant suit, that yours truly picked out. She looks so gorgeous in it. I remember when she tried it on and stepped out of the dressing room at JC Penny's, my heart actually skipped a beat. Anyway, it was nice to dress up and go to church, only I wish it wasn't because of a funeral. Next weekend Mary and I are going to Fargo to the Men's Warehouse so I can get fitted for my Tux. Bond, James Bond.
While there we will hit the West Acre's Mall and find Mary a dress for the wedding.
We have yet to book our flight. The prices seem to fluctuate a lot. We are trying to time it just right so we get a good deal. Well, take care everyone. I'll post later.
Love you all,
John.

Hello to my new family! My name is Jack. My new mommy and daddy rescued me from the Humane Society, and boy 'am I thankful. I was brought to my new home on Wednesday February 18th. I had a couple accidents but I haven't had any since. My new big brother is very old, so I know enough not to bug him too much. I kiss him almost every day. I have my own room that I sleep in at night and I'm in there when mommy and daddy go to work. I love my new room. I don't bark, whine, or scratch at the door. It is in the living room and throughout the days, when mommy and daddy are home, the door is left open and I go in there sometimes and find treats in my new room! I think it's magic! Here's a picture of my awesome room!

Daddy has even given me a middle name too! It is O'Neil. I guess it is for Jack O'Neil on Stargate SG-1.
I 'am a handsome boy. And I must be popular too because my picture was on the front cover of the Grand Forks Herald TV Guide! Here is the picture. Can you find me?

That was for Valentines Day. And I was adopted shortly after. My new mommy and daddy are very proud of me because I have settled in to my new surroundings very quickly. I obey and listen, and I give lots of love, which, I guess they need right now. I 'am happy to be here and it shows. My past is kinda shady. I may have been mistreated before, I can't quite remember, but I'm scared of sudden movements and loud noises. I was a stray and not sure how I ended up at the Humane Society, I think someone found me and dropped me off, but all that matters right now is that I have a new mommy and daddy that love me, a new brother, a new room, and a place that I can call HOME. Oh yeah, this is my new shirt!

I may look like a tough guy in it, but I'm very loving and kindhearted. I just wanted to say hello and look forward to meeting everyone. Thanks for having me.
Jack.

Our hearts are broken. Sammy fell asleep on this day at approximately 11:35 a.m.
He is survived by his older brother Raven, Human brothers Ryan, Mark, and his loving parents.
We will always miss him. He is the sweetest companion whose heart was bigger than us all.
