Sammy our baby.

Mary took Sammy back to the vet again today. His pain is constant, and 90% of the time he is laying motionless somewhere on the floor. He has some periods of "normalcy" where his tail wags, gives you kisses, walks around a bit, eats and drinks. But that only lasts for a short time, then the pain sets in again and it's back to the beds or some other spot. He can't lift his head too much and his lower back is very painful. Well.... after the vet visit today, I guess the x-ray shows that he may have bone cancer. Some of the bones in his neck look like parts are missing, and some of the vertebrae in his lower back have no cushioning and look almost fused together. There isn't much else we can do. They gave us another pain med that he can take with the one he takes now. Other than that it's just a matter of pain management, until.......don't know. I've loved him ever since the first day I held him and he reached out and put both his paws on my face. I've never let go of him since. And I never will.

Well, I know I've been truly awful at posting lately. Sometimes life can get really mundane when your stuck in a rut. I haven't done any projects around the house, that will come after Mark's wedding. I'm planning on cashing in some PTO for that. Winter usually means some fun stuff, as in my Stargate Atlantis hobby. I had to do a lot of sewing on my tactical vest. I had to sew a clip assembly on both the shoulders and a "patch" over the Black Hawk name in the front. I also sewed a sling assembly for the P-90 machine guns, and of course, sewed the patches complete with Velcro on the BDU (battle dress uniform) shirt. I have collected all the main weapons and tactical stuff that they use on the show and the cool thing is, to me, is that all the items are real. The vest is a Black Hawk tactical vest that military and law enforcement use, the knife is a real military navy dive knife, the guns are BB guns but they look and feel like the real thing. On Halloween I wore the whole uniform minus the weapons of course. I went to the gas station and two cops were sure eying me. I think the realism of the costume threw them off.
I've really been enjoying my iTunes and iPod. Mary bought me an FM transmitter for the iPod so now I can listen to my music in the work van. I also have a few TV episodes I bought, can't complain when there just 1.99 each. The only thing that I don't like about iTunes is that if I rip in a CD and they don't sell it, I don't get any album artwork, which is strange because they give me all the song titles. I'm a stickler on having all the info there. I don't like having an album that has no picture for it especially when I like to use the album artwork to flip through my library. So what I did was to check iTunes store first and if they carry the same album then I knew I'd get the artwork for it. It's kinda minor but.....
I had to take Sammy to the Vet on Saturday because he was in pain. It turned out that he has bad arthritis in his joints, especially the neck. So he may have to be on pain meds the rest of his life. Poor guy:( Raven is still a box of nails. I think he'll outlive me.
Well, I know that wasn't much but have a great rest of the day and next week.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I guess since battling a kidney stone all last week, eight days total, I 'am very thankful this year for not being in pain. As I told my dad, nothing like excruciating pain to make you appreciate everything! Anyway, just got done with the last of all my prep work for our little Thanksgiving Mary and I are going to have on Saturday. I make that stock for the gravy, that takes two hours. I cooked all the ingredients for the stuffing but kept them separate so the bread cubes don't get too soggy. Made the roasted garlic paste for the mashed potatoes. Made the orange cranberry sauce. Made the garlic and herb marinade for the turkey and slathered it all under and over the skin. It will sit and marinade now 'til Saturday, so that should taste great. Tomorrow, after work, I'll make the peanut butter fudge, and actually peel and quarter up the potatoes and soak them in water over night. This, I guess, leeches out more starch and makes for a smoother mashed potatoes. So, come Saturday, all I have to do is pull everything out of the fridge, do a bit of tweaking, and toss them in the oven and presto, Thanksgiving. Afterward, Mary and I will relax and fight the urge to nap and start to decorate the house for Christmas! Well, I'm tired. Just wanted to say that I hope everyone had a great day!
Love you.

Happy Birthday Markus Programmanicus (that would be your genus and species)

Twenty-six years old!
You are officially past the twenty-five year mark which is also designated to how old something has to be in order for it to be considered an antique.
True story.
Good Times, eh?
For me, for some reason, twenty-five was tough. No other age, before or after that, bothered me. I think fifty is going to be my "biggie", because it's another twenty-five years perhaps. I hope I don't get "old timer's" disease, and forget everyone. I do a lot of crossword puzzles and reading, "they" say that helps stave off that kinda thing. Anyway, I just wanted to say Happy Birthday and I love you, Jerry.
Love.....um....Jonnopithicus Stepdadicus.

RE: Ergo Proxy.

I found via SciFi Wire, the complete series, I think it was complete, of Ergo Proxy and it looked pretty good to me after visiting it's site and viewing some trailers. But I'm not quite sure if it's worth the investment for the trailers were very, very short and were still in Japanese. It is a six disc set, about the same length as my Witch Hunter Robin series. Anyway, thought I'd put that out.
In other good times, Mary's coming down with something; head-cold-like-ish.
I'm doing fantastic! Or as I say at work super-fantastic, which of course is much greater then, (>), fantastic. Sometimes I'm fine. Periodically I'm great. Occasionally I'm crappy.
Sporadically I'm coherent. Sparsely belligerent and rarely brilliant. Often silly. Minutely aware and pleasantly at bliss. Pulsating-ly punchy and grossly misunderstood. Unwaveringly neutral and suddenly succinct. Mutually blogging and theoretically certifiable.

I've been preoccupied with house work lately, repairs, thorough cleaning of things, like the carpet and such. One thing that I must get out of the way first is a very, very belated happy birthday to my dad. I missed another one. I can't really say why, just that for some reason I seem caught up in my own life that very little thought goes elsewhere. Not that things are bothering me, just that the rut of work, come home, eat, watch a show or two, bed by usually nine, read book, lights out at ten or so, can become automatic and much of it is done with no thought whatsoever.
Mary is back in school. Public Speaking and Chemistry.
Raven continues to age. For a dog that was so energetic, it's hard to see him so inactive. He does still seem to find moments of energy and commences to bug us like old times. He has developed a cough now so you can hear him hacking a little throughout the day. Momma Whitney's dog Sandy Lucy had that and it turned out to be cancer. Sammy's good ear is now infected. Both dogs are going to the vet when Mary gets her student loan money. Two dog visits aren't cheap.
I examined Mary's car radio, because it doesn't work, and find nothing out of the ordinary.
Fuses-okay.
Wiring on back of radio-okay.
Inside radio connections-okay.
Internet search shows factory radios for the dodge neon go bad and need to be replaced.
Some need anti-theft code to make the radio work again after messing with the battery, which I did, but found that our neon's computer doesn't need one.
Everything seems to point to -> bad radio.
We will need to put a new store bought one in and wire it up, sometime.
Cloudy and rainy today but temp is nice.
My boss called me into her office last week and wanted to thank me for being such an excellent employee. Her words not mine. That was nice to hear.
Mary likes her job at St. Ann's Guest Home. I thought St. Ann's was still in it's original location, down by the river. I had to pick her up one night and that is where I went. You can guess that there was no Mary there. I called her and asked, "where ARE you?" to which she replied, "Where are YOU?" "Behind St. Ann's," I say. "No your not," she says, "because I'm standing outside and your not here." She tells me that I'm at the wrong place and if I had listened to her directions I would have been there instead of here. So, now I know where St. Ann's Guest Home is, and luckily a may not have to pick her up in the future, but if I do it should go much smoother next time. No comments from the peanut gallery regarding this paragraph.
Saturday today. Mary's weekend to work. I've done the radio thing. Now I think I'll organize a car care kit for the winter months. I bought some tools and various things for battery care since it seems that both the neon and my truck suffer battery problems from time to time.
NOT looking forward to winter. Too soon for that, though I do love autumn.
Please be kind and rewind after reading.

P.S. I just did the spell check and it found no errors. I think that's a first for me.

Well, Memorial Day weekend is here and summer seems to have finally arrived. We've had very nice and seasonable weather the last couple of days. I got quite a bit done. I mowed the lawn for the first time this season, I ripped off all the gutters on the house, because they do nothing but collect leaves, twigs, and dirt to where it starts to grow things in there. It's like having a giant planter all around the house. They weren't carrying any water anyway either. I cleared out the shed and stock piled the extra weight machines in there and even have room for my other stuff. I patched some cracks in the roof, just temporary of course until I can figure out what to do with it. I cleaned the screened in deck thoroughly, putting new blinds on all the windows and rope lights on the ceiling, also adding an outlet for the lights and our laptops. Straightened the house up and vacuumed everything. So, whew! I'm a tired boy tonight.
For mom and dad, Mark popped the question to Janine. Of course she said yes! So they are now engaged to wed. The wedding will be sometime next year. We'll need to save money now to make it out there. It will be an awesome wedding I'm sure.
I have tomorrow and Tuesday off, so it's like a whole other weekend for me. I have some more things to do. I bought some of the same blinds for the sun porch too. They were on clearance at Lowe's for 4.62 each for a 96 inch blind! Couldn't pass that up. Oh yeah, one of the air conditioners went in today, it was near 80 and the bedroom was getting a bit too warm. It's cooled off now, so I'll probably shut it down for the night. I'd rather have it a little cooler in the room because I find it more comfortable for one, and it's easier to cover up than to lay there with no covers and still find it too warm to sleep.
Oh, and Mom, you'll like this. I was at Youtube.com today because I wanted to see if they had any Leo Buscaglia, and they had several. I spent most of my break times listening to old lectures he has given and truly enjoyed hearing him again. I guess he passed away in 1998, of all things, and this may be a little ironic, from a heart attack. But he had some wonderful observations into relationships and how we love one another. He always hugged everyone who stayed after the lecture.
I'm sitting out in our clean deck on my laptop, but I'm heading in now, the neighbor across the alley is practicing his guitar.
Nighty night all.

I was just perusing earlier entries and read about the door I painted that didn't shut right after reinstalling it. It actually fixed itself. I think that what happened was, when I painted it, it warped, then as it dried completely, straightened out again. (It is just a hollow door with some cardboard fillers inside). So at least I didn't have to monkey with it.
This coming Monday, I start my weight training! I 'am looking forward to it. I picked out a routine via my Muscle and Fitness Magazine to start off the punishment. I had a physical on March 12th and the results are in; I 'am in perfect health. All the numbers are where they should be, liver, kidneys, etc. My cholesterol is good at 191, this needs to be under 200. My good cholesterol is at 52, which is normal. My bad cholesterol is at 123, this needs to be under 130. My triglycerides are at 81, this needs to be under 150. And I don't have diabetes. So, since I 'am of sound body, it is time to make it sounder?
Our gym is all done and ready for us to use. Mary did a work out today and the treadmill. I've been away from it for far too long now and honestly need to start building some muscle because I don't particularly like seeing one of my shirts on a hanger, then putting it on only to have it looking the same as it did on the hanger. I'll focus more on calves when it comes to leg day. I've always shied away from wearing shorts. It would be nice to not be self conscious of myself anymore. Anyway, that's another topic better left out here.
Happy Day all. I love you.
John.
